BARBARA J. (BEAHM) ZIMMERMAN
Barbara Jane (Beahm) Zimmerman 65, wife of Richard E. Dickie Zimmerman, of 827 Parkview Ave., passed away Sunday (November 2, 2008) at her residence.
Mrs. Zimmerman was born on March 1, 1943 in Washington, D.C. a daughter of the late Henry Early and Mary (Drewry) Beahm.
Barbara was a 1960 graduate of Washington \u0026 Lee High School in Falls Church, Va. and in 1964 she graduated from Bridgewater College receiving her degree in education. Mrs. Zimmerman had a love for educating children and both the children she taught and their parents dearly loved her. She taught in the Harrisonburg School System from 1970 1979, she taught pre-school locally and most recently at Covenant Presbyterian Church Pre-School.
She and her husband were members of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Zimmerman is survived by a son and daughter-in-law; Scott Zimmerman and his wife Tarra of Charlotte, North Carolina; a daughter; Julie Zimmerman of Charlottesville; a sister and brother-in-law; Mrs. Lynne Westenfelder and her husband Chet Olive of Lake Monticello; and four grandchildren whom she cherished and dearly loved; Ian, Yates, Ella and Lyla Zimmerman.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, (November 5, 2008) in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John C. Peterson and Rev. Amy Summers-Minette.
The family will receive friends anytime at the residence or those desiring may pay their respects at the funeral home.
