Barbara Joan (Payne) Nulty, 77, wife of Gary Nulty, of Staunton, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mrs. Nulty was born in Augusta County, Virginia on July 12, 1947, a daughter of the late Gerald Arthur Payne and Barbara Joan (Shapiro) Payne.

Barbara retired in 2016 from Western State Hospital as the assistant to the director.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nulty was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tonya Denise Wilkerson.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of forty-two years, are two sons, Geoffrey D. Wilkerson and his wife, Crystal of Swoope and Jason M. Wilkerson and his wife, Angie of Staunton; two daughters, Melissa J. Roethlisberger and her husband, Bill, Sr. of Waynesboro and Kaitie Saunders and her husband, Jason of Staunton; and eight grandchildren, Bill, Jr., Drew, Nathan, Joshua, Camilla, Decklan, Jon, and Nick.

At Mrs. Nulty's request, there will be no public services.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
