Barbara Bernice (McKenzie) Lingenfelter, 77, widow of Mike Lingenfelter of Churchville went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 in Augusta Health from complications of Polycythemia which advance into acute Leukemia.
Mrs. Lingenfelter was born on April 22, 1939 in Pleasant View, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Dan and Arlene (McAvoy) McKenzie.
After graduating from Cowen High School in May of 1957, she married the love of her life on March 10, 1956 and moved to Glen Burnie, Maryland.
There she graduated from nursing school, worked as a R.N. at John Hopkins Hospital and then moved to Virginia where she was employed at Mary Washington. Once moving to Augusta County, Bernice retired from Western State Hospital after fifteen years of service where she was employed as a R.N.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Lingenfelter was preceded in death by a son, Dale Lingenfelter.
Left to cherish her memories are two sons, Michael Dewaine Lingenfelter of Churchville and Dan Eric Lingenfelter and his wife Jackie of Waynesboro; a step-grandson, Micah Muller of Tennessee; a special step-daughter, Margaret Robertson and her son, George of Pasadena, Maryland; two sisters and two brothers; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2016 in Taylor McAvoy Cemetery in West Virginia beside her husband and son.

at the Augusta Health Cancer Center and the Augusta Pain Center for the loving care given to Bernice.
