Obituary

Barbara Dodge Boardman passed away on April 20, 2024, in Fishersville, VA after a long illness. Barbara was born December 4, 1936, in Verona, New Jersey to Robert Kenworthy and Phebe Burr Dodge.

With had an early interest in photography, Barbara had her own business at the age of twelve, she graduated from Verona High School in 1954. She attended Syracuse University from 1954-1964, marrying in 1957, raising four children, and attaining her degree in Home Economics with photography as a side job. The family moved from Syracuse to the Wayland, NY area in 1964. Barbara joined the Professional Photographers Society of NY and attended professional photographer sessions at Rochester Institute of Technology. Over the years, many of her photographs submitted to conventions were highly reviewed and awarded and she was honored with her Master Photographer designation in 1982 in Las Vegas.

For close to 50 years, Barbara was the town photographer capturing the essence of people's lives - weddings, babies, families, graduation, reunions, and proms. She was active in the community as a past president of the local AAUW chapter, assisting with the annual potato festival, and a member of her church choir. Barbara moved to Staunton, Virginia in 2016 to be close to her daughter, Lynne. She missed her Wayland area friends dearly.

Barbara is survived by her children, Terri Boardman Farneti (Maurice), William Benjamin Boardman III and Beverly Jean Moss (Scott), grandchildren; Joy Kathryn Callanan (Shane), William Christopher Moss, Glenn Harrison Moss, and Ashley Gray and her first great grandchild, Simon Timothy Callanan. She is pre-deceased by daughter Lynne Cheryl Boardman, brothers James and Robert Dodge, parents Robert and Phebe Dodge and former husband William B. Boardman Jr.
