Audrey H. Wise
FT. DEFIANCE:
Audrey (Hollen) Wise, 96, of 347 Pine Top Road passed away Sunday night January 23, 2011 at her home with her immediate family present.
She was born May 10, 1914 in Bridgewater, a daughter of the late John A. and Elizabeth (Click) Hollen.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Wise was preceded in death by her husband Arland Wilson (A.W.) Wise on February 23, 2004; two sisters, Ola Hollen Evers, and Norma Hollen Glick; one brother, Francis A. Hollen all of Bridgewater, VA.
She graduated from Bridgewater High School and was a member of Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Womens Work Circle I and other activities. She was a member of Shendun Garden Club for 20 years and enjoyed arranging flowers for the church and many special occasions.
Surviving are four children, Virginia (Wise) Coleman and husband Wilton Cute Coleman of Salem, VA., Betty (Wise) Hanger of Virginia Beach, VA., Dr. John T. Wise and wife Wanda of Staunton and Robert T. (Bob) Wise and wife Helen of Ft. Defiance; one sister, Wilda (Hollen) Pilson of Ozona, FL and nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.
A private burial will be in the Edgewood Cemetery at Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church conducted by Dr. Howard A. Newman.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in the Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. and other times at her home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church, 4517 Rockfish Rd. State Highway 865, Grottoes, VA 24441 or Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 215, Fishersville, VA 22939.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
