Audrey Betty Knowles, 71 of 1101 Reservoir Street, passed away Monday, (October 27, 2008) at her residence.
Ms. Knowles was born on July 18, 1937 in Orange County, N.C., a daughter of the late Arthur Eagle and Ruby (Regan) Knowles.
Audrey was an active member of the Waynesboro Church of Christ where she attended the Good-Timers Bible Class and was involved in other church activities. She worked as a volunteer for the Waynesboro City Council on Aging, the Board for Domestic Violence and a former member of the Residents Board of Directors of the Waynesboro Re-Development and Housing Authority. She was the support leader for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association Group.
Ms. Knowles was retired from the UNC-Chapel Hill Law Library, and worked as a receptionist at law firms in Durham N.C. and Sarasota, Florida.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Knowles was preceded in death by a son, Todd W. Beeson and a granddaughter, Dana K. Beeson.
Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas L. and Denise Beeson of Staunton; a daughter, Gail E. Beeson of Stem, North Carolina; a brother, David L. Knowles of Butner, N.C.; two sisters, Ruth C. Jobe of Cedar Grove, N.C. and Mary S. Harper of Tallahassee, Fla.; five grandchildren, Sondra, Daniel, Trevor Beeson, Stephanie Browning and Kim Champion; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Austin Champion also survive.
A celebration of Audreys life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, (November 15, 2008) in the Waynesboro Church of Christ by the Rev. David Ladd. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the A.M.C. Hospice of the Shenandoah, 64 Sports Medicine Drive, Fishersville, Va. 22939.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive Staunton is in charge of the arrangements.
