Anthony Bruce Simmons, 41, of Staunton, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 after reaching the summit of Aconcagua Mountain in Argentina.

Mr. Simmons was born in Staunton, Virginia on August 9, 1981, son of Frances (Simmons) Wheeler and step-son of Randall Wayne "Randy" Wheeler.

Anthony was passionate about many things. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and loved climbing the world's highest peaks. He reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Mount Elbrus in Russia and Aconcagua in Argentina was his latest summit.  Anthony and his daughter lived for adventures together and had planned a joint climb of Kilimanjaro in 2028.

Surviving in addition to his parents, is his daughter and best friend, Chloe Bronx Simmons,  his former spouse, Crystal H. Simmons, brothers Derek J. Wheeler, Corey W. Wheeler, and Brice E. Wheeler; maternal grandfather, Elburne Simmons of Staunton; maternal grandmother, Sarah Aleman of Stuarts Draft; an aunt Debbie Lee; cousins Heather Lee and Myesha Lee; and several nieces and nephews.  He also leaves behind his beloved dog "Champ", his African Senegal Parrot, "Lele", and several prized fish.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 on Friday, March 17, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the Augusta Stone Presbyterian Church in Fort Defiance.
