Amelia (Gwin) Link's Obituary
Amelia (Gwin) Link, 100, of Verona, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at her residence.
Mrs. Link was born on October 27, 1914 in Bolar, VA in Highland County, a daughter of the late William T. and Maude (Roberts) Gwin.
She was employed in the Accounting Department of the Clifton Forge/Waynesboro Telephone Company. After her departure from the Telephone Company, she set up her own Accounting practice, Links Tax Service. She retired in 1999 after more than thirty years. She was a member of the Augusta County Farm Bureau Federation where she served as Secretary on the Board of Directors for twenty years. She was an active member of the Verona United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school in both the Adult and Childrens departments and was active in the Missionary work, where she served in various offices. Mrs. Link enjoyed cooking, baking, and entertaining.
In addition to her husband of 47 years, John Paul Link, Mrs. Link was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Gwin Brennan and two brothers, Milford C. and Randall F. Gwin.
Survivors include a son, John Daniel Danny Link and wife Debbie of Mt. Sidney; a daughter, Suzanne (Link) Heizer and husband William Bill of Staunton; two grandsons, W. Cole Heizer and wife Jill of Middlebrook, and Benjamin Link Heizer and wife Kathryn of Hagerstown, MD; two great-grandchildren of Hagerstown, MD; two step-grandsons, Timothy Scott Johnson of Richmond, VA and Bradford R. Johnson and wife Carman of Annapolis, MD; one great step-granddaughter, Kaira Blynn; two sisters, Reba G. Oheim of Silver Spring, MD and Thelma G. Welch of Stockton, CA; a sister-in-law, Lois Gwin; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015, in the Verona United Methodist Church by Rev. Bob Weeks and Rev. Jeff Allen.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Burial will be private in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to Verona United Methodist Church, 406 Lee Highway, Verona, Virginia 24482.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
