Obituary

A life-long resident of Staunton, Amelia graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in 1948, and later that year married her high school sweetheart, Theodore Eugene Mader, Sr. Amelia and Gene belonged to Hebron Presbyterian Church and Amelia was a member of its bell choir.
Amelia took great pride in her roles as wife, mother, co-manager of the family farm, and in later years as helpmate to Gene in his furniture-building business and residential construction work. She is best remembered for her love of stories, her infectious giggle, and her compassion for all of Gods creatures. Amelias applesauce cake, bread pudding and chocolate pie recipes are priceless family heirlooms.
Amelia was the last surviving member of her immediate family, preceded in death by her beloved husband Gene and baby Robert; her parents Edgar and Edna (Lines) Boyd; sisters, Agnes Helmick, Blanch Spitzer, Helen Landram, and Edna Boyd; and brothers, Edgar Boyd, William Boyd, Paul Boyd, Joe Scott Boyd, and Guy Boyd.
Amelia is survived by her children, Ted Mader, Jr. and his wife Lucy Erdelac, Glenn Mader, and Jeanette Bentley; grandsons, Wesley and Dustin Bentley; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Wesley Bentley, Jr.; a loving family of nephews, nieces, cousins, and their children and grandchildren; and a special niece, Sarah Boyd. She is also survived by cherished friends.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 in the Hebron Presbyterian Church by Pastor Frank Wyche.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Wesley Bentley, Sr., Dustin Bentley, Johnny Mader, Jay Mader, Michael Ruleman, Charlie Buchanan, Mark Buchanan, and Dr. Samuel Rowe.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hebron Presbyterian Church, C/O Memorial Fund for Amelia and Gene Mader, 423 Hebron Road, Staunton, Virginia 24401.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of her arrangements.
