December 17, 1945 – December 21, 2024
Amanda "Alice" (Wenger) Wooddell, 79, widow of John Gordon Wooddell, of Staunton, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville.
Mrs. Wooddell was born in Williamsburg, Virginia on December 17, 1945, a daughter of the late Joseph Henry Wenger and Mary Pearl (Cline) Wenger.
Mrs. Wooddell attended James Blair High School in Williamsburg, attended Virginia Commonwealth University and received her nursing degree from the Medical College of Virginia. She proudly served in the United States Army as a registered nurse, with deployments in Vietnam, Croatia, and Germany. A passionate traveler, Alice explored many parts of Europe, especially delighting in visits to the castles of Switzerland and Bavaria. Later, she settled in Staunton and the scenic Shenandoah Valley, where she enjoyed her well-earned retirement. At Baldwin Park, she formed lasting friendships and cherished her time singing with "The Amazing Grays". Mrs. Wooddell found joy in gardening, cultivating beautiful flowers, and celebrating the magic of Christmas.
Surviving are two daughters, Amy Cliborne and Molly Flowers; a brother, Joseph Wenger and his wife, Anna; two sisters, Carol Losey and Helen "Hope" Dillard and her husband, Robert; nieces and nephews, Mary "Gray" Wenger, Perry Wenger and his wife, Lindsey, Anne Teillon and her husband, Geoff, Kate Losey, Kristin Dillard and Tara Dillard; four great-nieces and great-nephews; and her cat, "Sammy".
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Bethel Presbyterian Church by Pastor Derek Almarode.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
