Alvin Finley Fitzgerald, Jr., 61, widower of Nancy (Bryant) Fitzgerald, of Staunton, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in Centra Specialty Hospital in Lynchburg.
Mr. Fitzgerald was born on August 22, 1956 in Staunton, a son of the late Alvin Finley, Sr. and Phyllis (Newman) Fitzgerald.
Alvin was a self-employed carpenter and enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl H. Fitzgerald, Sr. and a sister, Cheryl Watson.
Surviving is a son, Travis Wayne McLear; a daughter, Virginia Ann Fitzgerald; a brother, Glen F. Fitzgerald and his wife Kay; four sisters, Alvina Fitzgerald, Valda Long and her husband Dennis, Paula Shiley and her husband Todd, and Janice Rodenro and her husband Donald; four grandchildren; a special uncle, Hunter Fitzgerald; and numerous extended family and friends also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2018 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942.
