Allene Christine (Davis) Thorne, 76, widow of Paul Edwin Thorne formerly of Betsy Bell Road, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021 at the Shenandoah House in Fishersville.

Mrs. Thorne was born in Staunton, Virginia on May 28, 1945 a daughter of the late Douglas Arthur Davis, Sr. and Christine Illene (Carpenter) Davis.

Allene attended Miller Memorial Baptist Church and retired from VDOT where she was employed in the housekeeping department. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, adult coloring books, and hanging out with her special family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Thorne was preceded in death by a brother, Otis G. Carpenter, Sr.

Surviving are two sons, Earl J. McCray, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Craigsville and Danny McCray of Orange Park, Florida; a granddaughter, Dana Nicole (McCray) Shomo and her husband Hunter; a great-grandson, Ridge Hunter Shomo; three brothers, Douglas A. Davis, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Verona, Wayne E. Davis and his wife Janice of Waynesboro, and Herbert W. Davis of Verona; special sisters-in-law, Sylvia Shirey, Shirley Thorne, and Rosa Bosserman; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 9, 2021 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Scott Reese.

Burial will follow the service at Oaklawn Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Steve Knight, Chris Price, Otis Carpenter, Jr., Dave Johns, Mark Cook, and Shawn Cumella.

The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to The Shenandoah House for the wonderful care given to Allene.
