Obituary

Allen Alvin Adkins, 77, husband of Jeanette Elizabeth (Moore) Adkins, of Staunton, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Adkins was born in Augusta County, on June 15, 1945, a son of the late William Howard Adkins and Marion Lester (Clifton) Adkins.

Allen was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Wayne Hill Baptist Church. He was a master carpenter and contractor for R.E. Lee Construction. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing, making projects and helping others.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Tony Burke; two sisters, Lola Zuccatti and Terry Adkins; three brothers, William Adkins, Harry Adkins, Sr. and Galen Adkins; and a step-grandchild.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of seventeen years, is a step-son, Jimmy Burke and his wife, Jackie of Stuarts Draft; a step-daughter, Delores Burke of Staunton; two brothers, Jerry Adkins of Craigsville and Richard Adkins and his wife, Laurie of Staunton; four sisters, Martha Botkin and her husband, Aylwin of Staunton, Linda Campbell of Clifton Forge, Donna Litzenberg and her husband, Chuck of Staunton, and Rita Sheridan and her husband, Bill of Poquoson; three step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; and two special nephews, Dusty Corbin and Drake Turner; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March, 13, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March, 14, 2023 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Jamie McClanahan.

Burial will follow in the Craigsville Community Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Chuck Litzenberg, Jimmy Burke, Drake Turner, Deric Zwart, Chris Sprouse, Billy Sheridan, Dusty Corbin, and Josh Dodson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Powell, Calvin Sprouse, and Matthew Pilkington.

It is suggested, that those desiring make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

The family wishes to express a sincere "Thank you" to the staff at Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah; his caregiver, Theresa Thorne; and nephew, Austin "Drake" Turner.
