Alan Reid Sterrett, 56, husband of Brenda Kay (Smith) Sterrett of 355 Campbell Street, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Sterrett was born May 1, 1958 in Kansas City, Missouri, a son of Alice Aldine (Duncan) Sterrett Cassada and the late Andrew Fudge Sterrett.
Reid was employed by the City of Staunton as a Water Treatment Plant operator. He enjoyed music, spending time with his family, playing the guitar, fishing and Reid was an avid Washington Redskins fan.
In addition to his wife of twenty-four years and his mother, survivors include his step father, Lawrence Cassada of Fishersville; a step son, Jamie E. Brown and wife Barbara of Staunton; three brothers, Andrew F. Sterrett, II and Madison M. Sterrett and wife Lisa both of Staunton, and R. Bruce Sterrett of Fishersville; a granddaughter, Taylor L. Brown; two nieces, Ree Sterrett and Carrie Sterrett; a nephew, Adam Sterrett; a step nephew, Travis Harris; and his pet dog and companion Barney.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2014 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Harold W. Pete Campbell.
The family will receive friends following the service or at other times his residence or his mothers residence, 37 Joy Lane, Fishersville.
