Agnes Virginia (Gibson) Shifflett, 77, of 170 Maine Circle, passed away Thursday evening, (October 1, 2009) at her residence.
Mrs. Shifflett was born July 31, 1932 in Albemarle County, Virginia a daughter of the late William Austin and Ella Mae (Woodson) Gibson.
Agnes was a Homemaker and worked at Rowes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larman E. Shifflett; a son, Gary W. Shifflett; a daughter, Connie G. Woodson; a sister, Cora Woodson; five brothers, William, Herbert, Grover, Clifton and Robert Gibson, Jr.; a half brother, Thomas E. Johnson and a son-in-law, Henry L. Hicks.
Surviving are three sons, Larman E. Shifflett, Jacob E. Shifflett; foster son, David E. Shifflett all of Staunton; three daughters, Brenda L. Rexrode, Patsy J. Mateo and Mary Ann Woodson, all of Staunton; two brothers, Ed Gibson of Scottsville and Charles F. Johnson of Fishersville; one sister, Ella Mae Johnson of Nelson County; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; former son-in-law and friend, Ralph A. Rexrode numerous nieces and nephews, also survive.
A Celebration of Agness life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor William Strickler.
Family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening, October 5, 2009 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times the home of her daughter with whom she made her home.
Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memorial Gardens.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory 230 Frontier Drive is in charge of her arrangements.
