Abraham "Dave" Young, 77, of 32 Lumber Yard Lane, Staunton passed Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at his residence with his wife Shirley Jean (Bartley) Young and family by his side.
Dave was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on September 8, 1943, a son of late William and Mary (Alt) Young.
He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1962 and honorably served our country for 22 years. Upon his retirement from the Navy in 1984, he and his family settled in the Shenandoah Valley, where he founded Dave's Cooling, Heating, \u0026 Plumbing, in which his children operate today.
In addition to his first wife, Jean (Hainey) Young and parents, Dave was preceded in death by siblings, Paul, Jim, Bill, Tom, Margie, and Jean.
Dave, who was also known as "Pappy", is survived by his son, David Young; daughters, Cindy and Temple Cash, and Deborah Young and Bob Grubb; step-daughters, Pat and Tim Miller, Robin and Tyson Skievaski; sisters, Lydia "Tootie" Gilliland and Sandra McEntire and Dallas Welch: grandchildren, Rebecca and Pete Tamez, Amanda Young, Stacey McMannes, Megan Shifflett, Tyler Miller, Whitney and David I. Young, Madison and Landon Skievaski: great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday May 15, 2021 at his residence by Pastor Renee Garber.
