Obituary

Aaron Rudolph Stevenson, 81, widower of Minnie Elease (Springs) Stevenson, of 3188 Churchville Avenue in Staunton, Virginia passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Stevenson was born in Florence, South Carolina on August 13, 1941, a son of the late Moses and Lottie Jane (Touchberry) Steverson.

Mr. Stevenson was owner operator of Stevenson's Home Improvement. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a member of Jerusalem Chapel United Brethren Church. His hobbies included camping, fishing and woodworking.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Stevenson was preceded in death by a son, Steven Bruce Springs; four brothers and a sister.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Carpenter-Tacy and her husband David and Angela S. Thompson and her husband Vernon all of Staunton; a brother, Terry Steverson of Florence, SC; two sisters, Rita Creel and her husband Michael and Patricia Connor both of Florence, SC; six grandchildren, Adam Springs, Morgan Carpenter and her fiancé Dustin Chapman, Arin Thompson, Kenneth Thompson, Brent Tacy and wife Jamie, Amber Coulson and husband Chris; one great grandson, Henry Tacy.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 5, 2022 in the Jerusalem Chapel United Brethren Church by Pastor Mark Tinsley and Pastor George Etling.

The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the residence.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Casual dress is suggested.

Active pallbearers will be Scott Stogdale, Rick Whetsel, Ron Jacobs, Willie Davis, Derek Flory and Zachary Jacobs.

Honorary pallbearers will be Eric and Susan Nolley, Susan Jacobs, Shane Waybright and Jeanette Davis.

It is suggested those desiring to make memorial contributions to the Western Augusta WRE Program, P.O. Box 724, Churchville, VA  24421 or Cornerstone for Christ Community Center, 935 Jerusalem Chapel Road, Churchville, VA 24421.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
