Obituary for Max Houston Lockridge

Max Houston Lockridge, 100, widower of Katherine Druin (Humphreys) Lockridge, formerly of Devon Road and most recently of The Legacy at North Augusta of Staunton, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Lockridge was born on July 30, 1918 in Williamsville, Virginia, a son of the late Robert Henry and Katie Belle (Coursey) Lockridge.
Max was a member of Fishersville United Methodist Church, a Veteran of the United States Army during WWII, and was retired from Augusta Furniture. Prior to retiring from Augusta Furniture, Max worked as a sales consultant with Whites Furniture and later was employed with the First Virginia Bank of Augusta. He was a chartered member of the Augusta Lions Club, and a former member of the Staunton-Augusta VFW Post 2216. Max enjoyed antiquing, attending auctions, and talking to his many friends. “Max never met a stranger and was a friend to many.”
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Mr. Lockridge was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving are three sons, Richard “Rick” Welland Yeago of Churchville, Dennis “Scott” Yeago and his wife Darlene, and Robert “Todd” Lockridge both of Staunton; a daughter, Katrina (Lockridge) Klein and her husband Charles of Staunton; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Linda and John Harris, Edgar “Corky” Smith, Bill and Laura Wade, and the residents and staff at The Legacy at North Augusta of Staunton.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2019 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Reverend J. Wade Munford.
Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Brock Yeago, Shad Yeago, Jeremy Yeago, Carter Lockridge, Eric Brown, and Brad Long.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Augusta Lions Club.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project, Post Office Box 758540, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of his arrangements.
