Obituary

Rev. Steven Trent Parker, 49, husband of Beatrice (Jett) Parker of 709 Ladd Road passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Parker was born September 15, 1964 in Suffolk, a son of Patricia (Riddick) Parker.
Steve was raised and ordained in the Southside Baptist Church in Suffolk and his first call to the ministry was the Greystone Baptist Church in Asheboro, NC, his second calling was to the Beaver Island Baptist Church in Mayodan, NC and his final call brought his family to minister at the Fishersville Baptist Church in Fishersville, VA. He liked nature being in the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, reading and he loved spending time with his family.
Mr. Parker was preceded in death by a son, Joshua Steven Parker.
Surviving in the home is, Bea, his wife of twenty-four years and a daughter, Sarah Elisabeth Parker. In addition to his mother in Suffolk, he is also survived by his sisters, Cindee Cross and husband Rick of Ivor and Pennie Collins and husband Michael of Holly Springs, NC; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Katie Jett of Suffolk; three nieces, Tabitha Raines and husband Chris, Lorrie Jett and Shaunna Cross; two nephews, Travis Umphlette and Dillon Umphlette; and a number of aunts, uncles and many cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 in the Fishersville Baptist Church, 1508 Jefferson Highway, Fishersville, VA.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 in the Fishersville Baptist Church by Pastors Ronnie Wyatt, Michael Smith and Rev. Stewart McCarter.
Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.
Active pallbearers are M. C. Hinkle, Douglas Baggett, Dennis Baggett, Phil Lilly, Ray Brown, Rev. Steward McCarter, Travis Umphlette, Dillon Umphlette, Gordon Riddick and Carl Arnold.
Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons and Staff of Fishersville Baptist Church.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Neighborhood Church, Missions Fund, 1012 Oak Street, Syracuse, New York 13203.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
