MAMIE M. MELTON
STAUNTON:
Mamie Mae (Campbell) Melton, 70 widow of Goldie Lester Melton, Jr., of 92 Hermitage Road, passed away Monday, (December 1, 2008) at her residence.
Mrs. Melton was born August 7, 1938 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late John and Martha Mae (Nelson) Campbell.
Mamie was a lover of animals, enjoyed going to her camp and spending time outdoors and with her pets. In addition to spending time with her family, she also enjoyed her work at Unifi where she retired with 33 years of service on August 30, 2008.
Surviving are two sons; Ronnie L Melton and his wife Jane of Raphine and Larry W. Melton and his wife Jennifer of Staunton; one daughter; Teresa A. Balser and her husband Ernie of Staunton;
one brother; Johnny Campbell and his wife Thelma of Goshen; two sisters, Tennie Stokes and Sylvia Sprouse of Craigsville. Also surviving are six grandchildren; April Craig, Drema Melton, Timmy Melton, Shane Rickman, Bobby Melton, Benny Melton and 18 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday (December 4, 2008) in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Gary Hodges.
Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening (December 3, 2008) from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Coffman Funeral Home or at other times the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jennifer Melton, 61 Old Churchville Road, Staunton.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Hope Cancer Center, 78 Medical Center Drive, Fishersville, VA., 22939 or the SPCA, 33 Archery Lane, Staunton.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive is in charge of the arrangements.
