Maxine Hazel (Harris) Terrell, 76, widow of Robert Kenneth Terrell of 32 Kelford Street, Verona passed away Tuesday (May 12, 2009) at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Terrell was born on November 23, 1932 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Charles Henry and Hazel Jereriah (Shaver) Harris.
Maxine was employed in the maintenance department with the U.S. Forestry Service and also worked for 10 years at AMP Inc. Maxine attended Good News Ministries and Oak Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed life, she had a fantastic sense of humor and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Medford Harris and Kenneth Winfred Harris and a sister, Betty Mae Parrish.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Marjorie Ann “Margie” Cooper and her husband Clarence of Ft. Defiance, Karen Michele Robertson and her husband Jay of Verona and Lisa Diane Conner and her husband Ernie of Raphine; a brother, Harold H. Harris of Staunton, six grandchildren, Barbara Brown, Michael Melton, Sarah Wendell, Hannah Conner, Tessa Shaw, and Lily Conner; a great-granddaughter, Taylor Brown and Maxine’s special friend, Naomi Woodson. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the CCU at Rockingham Memorial Hospital and caregiver Kathy Sharpe.
A Celebration of Maxine’s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, (May 15, 2009) at the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastors Gregory Miller and Timothy Woodson. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 p.m. this evening (May 14, 2009) in the Coffman Funeral Home and other times at her residence.
Active Pallbearers will be Robert Shaw, William Fisher, Bobby Bosserman, Ernest Conner, Curtis Shuey, Tracey McDaniel, Mike Shifflett and Elmer “Dickie” Rexrode.
