Frances (Seaman) “Granny” Mizer, 96, widow of Shewey W. Mizer of 87 Mizer Lane passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at her residence.
Mrs. Mizer was born March 10, 1916 in Montebello, a daughter of the late Elmer H. and Berta (Ramsey) Seaman.
Frances was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and had worked at King’s Daughters’ Hospital as the Dietary Supervisor for ten years. She enjoyed farming, gardening and being a homemaker. Mrs. Mizer loved
her Lord Jesus Christ and read her Bible daily. She was always willing to help others in need.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Mizer was preceded in death by five brothers, Clarence Seaman, Nevel Seaman, Elmer Seaman, Edwin Seaman and Andrew Seaman and three sisters, Carlene Seaman, Hortense Hamilton and Rebecca McDaniel.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane M. Huffer and her husband Oakley of Swoope; two granddaughters, Michele Canterbury of Blacksburg and Monika Huffer of Waynesboro and a grandson-in-law, Allen Canterbury of Christiansburg and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013 in the Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery by Pastor Denny Sites.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Diane M. and Oakley Huffer, 87 Mizer Lane, Swoope.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
