May 24, 1973 - January 31, 2010
Wayne “Lee” Armstrong, 36, formerly of 710 Charles Street, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2010 in the Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg from complications he sustained from an automobile accident which occurred on July 7, 2009.
Lee was born on May 24, 1973 in Staunton, a son of Wayne “Popsicle” Armstrong and Joan (Marcum) Armstrong.
Lee enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. He was a great uncle to his nieces and nephew and he never met a stranger. Lee made a hugh impact in the lives of those who knew him and he will be missed by all his family and many friends.
Lee was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, J.R. and Louise Armstrong; paternal step-grandmother Mary Bess Armstrong; maternal grandfather, Howard Marcum and maternal grandmother, Marion McPherson; maternal step grandmother, Carolyn Jo Marcum; an aunt, Pamela Marcum and a uncle, Howard Marcum, Jr.
In addition to his mother of Greenville and his father of Woodsfield, Ohio, survivors include his mother’s companion, Mark C. VanName also of Greenville; a sister and brother-in-law, Amy Armstrong and Jeff Roudabush; a nephew, Joe Nedrow and fiancée Tasha Grimm; two nieces, Sarah and Hannah Roudabush, all of Mount Solon; and a special friend, Darrell Hedrick and his wife Melanie of Churchville. Also surviving are Lee’s extended family Bobbie VanName of Lexington, Denise Hite of Staunton, Collette Williams of Lexington and Tim and Shane Yoder of West Virginia; many beloved aunts including Phyllis Seal and her companion Robert Smith of Staunton, Rhoda Sue Clement and her husband Bill of Claudville, Va., Rita Kay Stroller and her husband Roy of Hinton and Janet Stroop and her companion Vic Rosen of Staunton;a number of uncles, cousins and two special pet cats, “Americus” and “Annie” also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Harold “Pete” Campbell.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2010 in the funeral home and others times at the home of his aunt Phyllis Seal, 6 North Washington Street in Staunton.
Active pallbearers will be Johnny Simonetti, Mark VanName, Jamie Marcum, Darrell Hedrick, Matthew Clement, Bruce Nedrow, Jeff Roudabush and Tim Yoder.
