Margaret P. Ramsey

GOSHEN:

Margaret (Powell) Ramsey, 87, of 3811 Marble Valley Road, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Mrs. Ramsey was born on October 1, 1925 in Brownsburg, a daughter of the late Stewart D. and Carrie (Huffer) Powell.
Mrs. Ramsey was a member of the Goshen Presbyterian Church. She was employed with Daniel Motor Company as a bookkeeper from 1946 until her passing. Mrs. Ramsey was a longtime member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, she held a lifetime membership in the Women of the Church, Presbyterian Church US and was a charter member of the Craigsville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
On September 24, 1947 she married the late Walter N. Ramsey with whom she had a long and loving relationship and until recently had played an active part in operating the family farm.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a foster brother, Glenn F. Coffman and a cousin, Sara Lee Beale.
Survivors include a son, James Walter Ramsey and his wife Martha of Goshen; two grandchildren, James W. Ramsey, II and his wife, Nicole of Goshen and Nancy R. Santy of Salem; five great- grandchildren, Gabriel James Ramsey, Michael James Santy, Kayla Renee Santy, Andrew Lee Ramsey and Savannah Marie Santy; two sisters-in-law, Bertha R. Webb of Covington and Blanche R. Fortune of Craigsville; a cousin, John L. Coffman of Craigsville and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013 in Goshen Baptist Church by Pastors Scott Reese and John Haney.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Burial will be private in Thornrose Cemetery.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the CD Ministry at Goshen Baptist Church, P.O. Box 38, Goshen, VA 24439 or St Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-1942 or a local fire and rescue department of your choice.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of her arrangements.
